Driving to Cocquio Trevisago until Gemonio, it is possible to visit the graceful Romanesque church of Saint Peter (sec. XI, national Monument) with frescoes of the sec. Xiv-xvi.

Sulla la statale per Cocquio Trevisago fino a Gemonio, è possibile visitare la graziosa chiesa romanica di San Pietro (sec. XI, Monumento nazionale) con affreschi dei sec. XIV-XVI.

La tradizione vuole che tale chiesa sia stata donata dal re Liutprando al monastero di San Pietro in Ciel D’Oro in Pavia nel 712. Con un secondo ampliamento dopo il mille, è stata aggiunta una seconda navata, l’abside maggiore e quella minore; l’aggiunta dalla terza navata è da ascriversi tra il XIV e il XV secolo. Il piazzale antistante la chiesa è circondato dalle cappellette della Via Crucis, costruite nel 1768, restaurate nel 1930 e rinnovate con una sacra rappresentazione della Passione di Cristo attraverso 14 artistiche “formelle” in ceramica, opera dell’artista Albino Reggiori.
